Der etwa zwei Meter hohe und drei Meter breite „Blue Ghost“ (auf Deutsch: blauer Geist) landete erfolgreich im sogenannten „Mare Crisium“, einer Tiefebene mit einem Durchmesser von etwa 500 Kilometern. 46 Tage benötigte die Sonde von Firefly Aerospace für die rund 400.000 Kilometer von der Erde zum Mond. Das Raumfahrzeug landete auf der nordöstlichen Vorderseite des Mondes. Das erste Bild zeigte das unwegsame Gelände – ein weiteres zeigt die Sonde vor der Erde.
